Audrey Aileen Kraynik
Audrey Aileen Kraynik, of New Smithville, died March 30, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was married to John R. Kraynik for 61 years until his death in 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Miriam (Kern) Rothrock.
The church secretary at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown, she served on church council, sang with the choir and taught Sunday School.
An advisor for the Luther League, she also worked as an assistant purchasing agent for the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital, where she was a Red Cross volunteer in the 1960s.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli.
She studied opera as a young girl and gave many recitals in the Lehigh Valley area.
After a courageous victory over breast cancer in her late 40s, she fulfilled a longtime dream of training horses at the racetrack.
She was the first woman trainer licensed in Pennsylvania and she trained at Penn National Race Track well into her 70s.
Her greatest love in life were her horses, cats and dogs, and was a cattery worker at Animals in Distress.
An avid, and very competitive bowler, she was a member of several teams in the Lehigh Valley and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Women’s All Star Bowling Team in the 1960s.
Her survivors include a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Ted Swartz of Bethlehem; granddaughters Amy Jo, wife of Michael Korpics, of Mohrsville and Maggie Swartz of Easton; and great-grandchildren Teddy, Samantha, John and Jessie.
She was predeceased by brothers Bruce and Neil Rothrock.
