Agnes D. Ruyak, OLPH Church member

Agnes D. Ruyak, 94, of Bethlehem, died March 29, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Bobyak) Magyar. She was the wife of the late Charles “Abby” M. Ruyak.

She was a graduate of Bethlehem HS and of Bethlehem Business College.

During World War II, She worked in the U.S. Army Quartermaster General’s Office, War Department, in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She then transferred to the Army Signal Corps, Philadelphia. She was later on the assistant housing manager at Seabrook Farms, Bridgeton, N.J.

She was a secretary, first to the headmistress and then was an assistant admissions director at Moravian Seminary for Girls, Green Pond campus; and secretary to the president and general manager of Fountain Hill Underwear Mills. She was a legal secretary until she retired in 1983.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was a past president of its senior fellowship club.

She was a past president of the UGI Blue Flame seniors club. She volunteered for various organizations. She was a member of the U.S.O. in Washington, D.C.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou and her husband John P. Schuler of Palmer Township, Carole Ann and her husband David Marthens of Purcellville, Virginia, and Anne Marie (Ladislav) Varga of Bethlehem; a grandson, Charles of Bethlehem, who took care of her through many illnesses; nieces; and nephews.
