Whitehall High School presents “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” an irreverent parody of the legend of King Arthur, at 7 p.m. April 6, 7, 8 and 2 p.m. April 9, auditorium, Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall.
On a trip to recruit knights for his legendary Round Table, King Arthur travels with his servant Patsy, who follows him around banging coconut shells together to imitate the sound of horse’s hooves. They are joined in their iconoclastic adventures by “homicidally brave” Sir Lancelot, “not-quite-so-brave” Sir Robin and “dashingly handsome” Sir Dennis Galahad.
Randi Kaplan directs the Whitehall production, assisted by choreographer Missy Keiser Zimmer, student director and stage manager Elaine Ramirez, and student music director Nick Bonilla.
Adapted from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the musical comedy premiered on Broadway in 2005, receiving 14 Tony Award nominations and winning three Tonys.
Songs include “Always look on the Bright Side of Life,” “The Song that Goes Like This,” “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway” and “I Am Not Dead Yet.”
