Allen ‘Bonnie & Clyde’

The William Allen High School theater department presents “Bonnie & Clyde,” a PG-rated musical about the notorious couple who achieved the unlikely status of folk heroes during the 1930s, at 7 p.m. April 6, 7, 8 and 2 p.m. April 9, John F. McHugh Auditorium, William Allen High School, 106 N. 17th St., Allentown.

“To my knowledge, we are the first area high school to produce this musical,” says director John T. Sechler. Assisting him are assistant director and choreographer Dawn Blanco, music director Brandon Remp, technical director Marc Hissam and conductor Eric Moser.

With music by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Don Black and book by Ivan Menchell, the story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow’s Great Depression era crime spree received two 2012 Tony Award nominations for its four-week 2011 Broadway debut.

Music numbers include “Picture Show,” “This World Will Remember Me,” “You’re Goin’ Back to Jail,” “God’s Arms Are Always Open,” “Too Late to Turn Back Now“ and “Dyin’ Ain’t So Bad.”
