Louis L. Handwerk, 86, of Allentown and formerly of Walnutport, died March 27, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit, Allentown. He was the husband of Betty L. (Hantz) Handwerk of Allentown for 59 years.
Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Victor Handwerk Sr. and Ruth (Laub) Handwerk.
He was a paint line worker for 15 years, last employed by Stanley-Vidmar Cabinets, Allentown, until he retired. He was a self-employed farmer in Walnutport.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Cherryville.
He was a member of the Harmony Grange, Pennsville, for more than 50 years. He was, when younger, a member of 4-H.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Scott M. and his wife Colleen of Walnutport; a daughter, Susan J. Neff of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Harvey and his wife Althea; three sisters, Arlene George and Ada and her husband Harvey Hines, all of Walnutport, and Mildred Vortman of Center Valley; and two grandchildren, Stephen L. and his wife Julie Neff of Gilbert, Ariz., and Stephanie E. and her husband Daniel Bukarau of Mesa, Ariz.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Victor Jr.; and a sister, Verna Smith.
There will be a visitation 7-8:30 p.m. March 30 and 9-10 a.m. March 31, followed by a funeral service 10 a.m., all at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton.
