Blue Barn Meadows update
Blue Barn Meadows, a major subdivision on a 41.67-acre parcel at 1491 Blue Barn Road, was recently granted approval by South Whitehall commissioners for its Stage I development plan.
Incorporated by Posocco Properties 12 years ago, the project was idle for awhile but resurfaced a few times over the years with some redesign aspects.
Developer Dave Posocco was granted permission to proceed with the project under the old zoning ordinance, before September 2014.
Posocco proposes to build Blue Barn Meadows in three stages comprising a blend of 199 town houses, eight single family detached dwellings, a 2-acre recreation area, a 16,817-square-foot tot lot and two stormwater detention basins.
In other business at the Feb. 1 meeting, commissioners looked at plans presented by Pennsylvania Venture Capital for a retirement facility at the former West End Racquetball Swim and Fitness Club campus, 4636 Crackersport Road.
The proposed assisted living center will be known as Parkland Manor. One building will be converted for the new use, and one has been removed due to roof failure.
A new residential structure is also planned for the 13.9-acre site.
As the existing building is no longer a fitness center, the structure will need to be brought up to code for assisted living.
The board granted a waiver of subdivision and land development review requirements for the project.
Board members listened to plans from representatives of Tilghman Square Associates for a new brick-and-stone building to house three tenants.
These include American Hearing Centers, a major cellphone carrier, and Duck Doughnuts, a franchise in which customers can choose their own toppings for their doughnuts.
Reports indicate the Tesla car charging station is doing well, and the shopping center is thriving.
The board granted permission for construction to start before the plan is recorded, as tenants need the building by September.
