Robert F. Durn, 79, of Macungie, died March 12, 2017. He was the husband of Brynn L. (Knauss) Durn. They were married 55 years Sept. 9. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late James Durn and Virginia (Trexler) Durn.

He was in the insurance business 40 years, culminating with his ownership of Durn-Bieler Insurance Agency.

He was a 1955 graduate of Liberty High School. While in high school, he was an active member of the YMCA Young Chiefs leadership group training program where he made life-long friends.

He served in the Marine Corps Reserve and graduated from Moravian College in 1962.

He was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus and served on many committees.

He loved spending time at his beach house in Sea Isle City, N.J. with his family. He was an avid bicyclist, golfer, fisherman and pet owner. He enjoyed taking his beloved Labradoodle Molly for long walks.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Jennifer, of Allentown and Elizabeth and her husband Scott Christman, of Allentown; sons, Douglas and his wife Meg, of Middletown, Del. and James and his partner Kristina Smith, of Jackson, Wyo.; grandchildren, Robert II, Annie Umfress, Sarah, and Garrod and Griffen Christman; sister, Marilyn and her husband Dr. Nicholas Chapis. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. March 25 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus. Family calling hours will begin 9:30 a.m.
