Whitehall library: Library will feature talk on fairy tales
At 7 p.m. tonight, March 16, join us for “Everything You Know About Fairy Tales Is Wrong!” by local author and illustrator Christopher D. Ochs.
Many archetypal figures present in classic fairy tales - the damsel in distress, the knight in shining armor, the evil stepmother, the downtrodden peasant and several others - continue to influence everything from entertainment to the social mores used to define what is good and noble. Where did these caricatures come from? And how historically accurate are these archetypes that we hold so dear?
Ochs’ books will be available for purchase following the talk.

We are helping the school district’s students who are in the most need of nutritious foods to alleviate severe hunger during long weekends when free breakfast and lunch are not available at the school.
If you would like to make a food donation, see the list below and drop off donations during regular library hours. Items needed are shelf-stable milk boxes, macaroni and cheese (boxes and individual packets), Chef Boyardee (cans and microwaveable bowls), small boxes of cold cereal, fruit cups, applesauce cups, juice boxes/pouches, fruit snacks, packs of cheese/peanut butter crackers, graham crackers, granola bars and gallon-sized resealable bags.
