Rodney A. Gerhart, 56, of Wescosville, died suddenly March 8, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of Debbie (Eiding) Gerhart for 24 years. Born in Sellersville, Bucks County, he was a son of the late Eugene and June (Beaver) Gerhart and son-in-law to Jean Eiding, of Lititz.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a history buff and waver runner enthusiast.
Recently he worked at ArcelorMital, Conshohocken. Formerly he was a sales representative for Hatfield Quality Meats, Lance Co., and Procter and Gamble.
He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Brian Shoemaker, of Wescosville and Michael Shoemaker and his wife Jeanette (Stauffer), of Emmaus, stepdaughter, Michelle and her husband Jim Higgins of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, J. Dawn, of Zionsville, Bonnie and fiancee Bob Horne, of King of Prussia; niece, Dani and her husband Orlin Howell; six grandchildren Parker, Connor and Gabriel Shoemaker, Jacqueline, Hillary and Benjamin Higgins.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Cold Point Baptist Church, 5063 Militia Hill Road, Plymouth Meeting, 19462 or the Center for Vision Loss, 845 West Wyoming St., Allentown, 18103.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. March 19 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1208 Brookside Road, Allentown. Visitation and calling begin 2 p.m.
