Northwestern and Catasuauquq both have wrestlers still alive in the state wrestling tournament as of Friday morning. Two of the Tigers’ four qualifiers and the Rough Riders’ only wrestler at states were all making their way through the consolation bracket on the second day of competition at Hershey’s Giant Center.

Northwestern’s Caleb Clymer (152) opened the tournament with an 8-4 decision over Wyalusing’s Josh Haley before falling to Liggonier Valley’s Robby Patrick, 5-3 in a quarterfinal bout. Clymer will resume wrestling in Friday’s third-round consolation matches.

The Tigers’ Baily Wehr (120) dropped his first round match to Cole Hauck of Line Mountain by a 6-3 decision. Wehr won two consolation matches and will meat Andrew Ischo of Reynolds in Friday’s third-round consolation. Wehr beat Bethlehem Center’s Jimmy Gwyer 8-0 in his first consolation bout then took out Isaiah Bryner (Newport) 8-1 in the next round.

Northwestern’s Jackson Bernhard dropped a preliminary match to Kenny Boyer of Line Mountain, 9-5, then dropped his first-round consolation match to Logan Bennett of Milton, 8-5.

The Tiger’s Colin Rex lost his preliminary bout to Collin Klinger of Line Mountain, 6-0, and then dropped a 6-4 decision to Benton’s Colton Babcock.

Catasauqua’s Benjamin Nosal (220) fell to Derry Area’s Noah Wiencek in the preliminary round, coming up on the short end of a 3-2 decision. Nosal went on to beat Lakeview’s Tyler Zebrovious by fall in 2:32 in his first consolation match and was awaiting Western Wayne’s Cole Fuller in the second round of consolations.
