SWIMMING - Two Zephs medal

District medals were awarded to Whitehall High School swimmers Stephanie Setar and Daniel Jablonski at the District XI Class 3A Swimming Championships last weekend at Parkland High School.

Setar earned the bronze medal in the 100 butterfly.

“This is the first time I’ve broken a minute, so it’s a milestone,” said Setar. “I only saw the gil in lane one, but I was so focused I knew I could place and get on the podium.”

Setar’s time was 59.89.

“I was shaking on the block, but when I dove in I felt really good,” Setar said. “The third lap is the most tiring, but I was thinking I have to do this, and I kicked it in, looked up, and said yes.”

Setar also medaled in the 100 backstroke, placing fifth in 1:01.23.

Jablonski won a fourth place medal in the 500 free.

“It was a lot better than yesterday [Friday, the first day of districts]. Yesterday I went out way too fast [in the 200 fee],” said Jablonski. “Today [Saturday, the second day of districts] I went out more controlled. I’m really happy.”

Jordan Rivera also placed well at districts, taking sixth place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.44 and eighth place in the 50 free with a time of 22.76.

In final team results, Whitehall’s boys placed eighth overall with 110.5 points, and Emmaus placed first. Whitehall’s girls placed ninth with 101.5 points, and Parkland placed first.
