Benjamin F. Hess, 86, of Slatington, died March 3, 2017, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

He was the husband of the late Irene C. (Hoffman) Hess.

Born July 10, 1930, in Emerald, he was the son of the late Benjamin A. and Mamie C. (Schleicher) Hess.

He was an assembly line worker at Mack Truck Inc. for 20 years before retiring.

Before that, he was worked at the former Keystone Lamp Factory, Slatington, for many years.

He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

His survivors include children Sharlene I. Becker of Walnutport, Keith L. Hess of Slatington; sisters Caroline Wagner of Walnutport, Rhoda Burkhart of Florida; grandchildren Ryan and Matthew Williams, Brandon and Brianna Hess; great-grandsons Logan, Noah, Hunter and Benjamin Williams.

He was predeceased by brothers Raymond, Edgar and Francis Hess.
