Richard Kip Schiermeyer

Richard Kip Schiermeyer, 52, of Lower Macungie Township, died peacefully March 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the devoted husband of Julia F. (Zirkle) Wereley Schiermeyer. He and his wife celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past September in Yellowstone National Park. Born in Pompton Plains, N.J., he was the son of Geraldine E. (Pearson) Schiermeyer, of Lower Macungie Township and the late Richard Schiermeyer.

He was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School, New Jersey and worked at Knoll Furniture in East Greenville for the past 27 years.

He was a passionate coach for the Emmaus youth football and basketball programs as well as a Boy Scout leader of Troop 431.

He loved his family and being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and boating.

He attended Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown.

He is survived by his wife; mother; sons, Steven J. Wereley and his wife Stacy, of Allentown, Michael J. and Christopher T., both of Lower Macungie Township; sister, Lee Ann and her husband Steven Anderson, of Bel Air, Md., and their children Erik and Kristin; loyal lab, Rocky.

Services will be held 11 a.m. March 10, Asbury U.M. Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown, 18104. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. March 9 at the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown.
