Michael P. Decker

Michael P. Decker, 67, of Macungie, died in his home March 4, 2017. He was the husband of Brenda L. (Helfrich) Decker. They were married 42 years Aug. 3, 2016. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Oliver J. and Anna F. (Ziegler) Decker.

He was a self-employed commercial flooring installer working for various companies in the Lehigh Valley as a subcontractor for 30 years until 2002. He then worked as a truck driver for Impress Industries, Emmaus, for nine years, retiring in 2011.

He was a member of Solomon’s U.C.C., Macungie, as well as the Macungie VFW.

He served in the HQ 9th Marines, 3D Marine Division, during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed golfing, country dancing, working on lawn tractors, playing pool, traveling, and, most importantly, his family, friends and his grandson, Brody.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Jennifer L. and her husband Nicholas Phillips; siblings, Larry and his wife DeAnn and Maureen; grandson, Brody Michael Phillips; godsons, Scott Shoff and David; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Dennis and Gary.

Services will be held 11 a.m. March 9 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Calling hours will be held 10 to 11 a.m. March 9 in the funeral home.
