William E. Schlichter

William E. Schlichter, 95, of Emmaus, formerly of Quakertown, died Feb. 23, 2017, in his home. He was the husband of Grace C. (Oswald) Schlichter. They were married 45 years last September. Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Ralph and Florence (Ely) Schlichter.

He was a stamp and coin dealer in Quakertown, retiring in 1972. Prior to that he operated farms in the Kempton and Quakertown areas.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp., serving during World War II with the European Theatre of Operations.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Samuel R. Wessner (Maria) and a stepdaughter Debra L. Wessner; two sisters, Laura, wife of the late Harry Vaughan and Mary, wife of the late Robert Whitemore; stepgrandson, Steven; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert.
