Byron L. Shoemaker

Byron L. Shoemaker, 65, died Feb. 21, 2017. A native of Lehighton, he was the son of the late Orville and Pearl (Frable) Shoemaker. He lived in Pottstown and Macungie before settling in Lower Macungie Township.

He was a 1969 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and Lebanon Valley College, Annville. He also earned his Master in Business Administration degree from Lehigh University.

He was a certified public accountant, originally with Dreslin & Company, PC, then with Cappelletti, Shoemaker & Co., PC, and finally was a sole practitioner. In his semi-retirement, he was affiliated with The Bottom Line and with James M. Wood, CPA.

He was the longtime treasurer of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals and served on the board of the Trumpet Museum on Fairway Farm.

He enjoyed antiquing, road trip vacations, antique cars, particularly 1957-58 finned Chryslers and DeSotos and especially loved his hometown of Lehighton.

He is survived by sisters, Nancy and her husband Bernie Matyascik, of Summit Hill and Linda and her husband Jerry Roth, of Bath; nieces, Jessica Morrell, of Fort Mill, S.C., Julie and her husband Ryan Cromer, of Norfolk, Va. and Christine and her husband Tim Graver, of Bath; nephews, Jason Matyascik, of Barrow, Alaska and Eric Roth husband of Jamie, of Bath, and his partner, Jim Wood.

Funeral services are private. Arrangements were made by the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Lehighton.
