Elementary school: Students rewarded for good behavior
Sheckler Elementary School students who maintained positive behavior at school during the month of February will be rewarded with a “Minute to Win It” game session March 3, their Think First monthly reward.

Calendars for Sheckler’s Readathon are due to your child’s teacher by March 3. They must be signed by a parent, indicating the student completed the minutes of reading at home. We will find out soon if Sheckler met this year’s goal of 75,000 miles traveled (minutes read) schoolwide. Remember to always keep on reading!

All parents are invited and encouraged to attend the monthly Home and School Association meeting, which will be held 6:30 p.m. March 8 in the school library. This is a great organization to be involved in. It does so much to assist with events and fun activities for the students of Sheckler.

Schools will be closed March 10 for an Act 80 day. Regular classes will resume March 13.

Box Tops for Education collected from families at Sheckler Elementary School add up quickly and really make a difference. It is an easy way to turn your trash into cash to benefit our school for student activities. As of tallying done in February, Sheckler families have collected 10,716 box tops towards the next submission.
That is a total, thus far, of $1,071.60 for the school. Please continue to collect and send in your box tops with your child.

I hope everyone got to enjoy some of the fun activities held in honor of Read Across America Week and TV Turn-off Week. Congrats to all who took home some great prizes won during Sheckler literacy night and to all the trivia contest winners.
Thanks to everyone who participated in making these events fun and exciting for all the students of Sheckler. Your dedication is appreciated.
The Home and School table set up during literacy night brought in over $300 toward the playground fund. Thanks to the generosity of the local businesses – Catty Pizza, Blondie’s, Sams Club, the Whitehall Giant Food Store and Philly Pretzel in Allentown – for their donations for the evening. The playground fund is now closer to reaching the goal of paying for new equipment for the students of Sheckler.
There is hope that with the help of another fundraiser in April, the goal will be met. Thanks also to the community and Sheckler families for your continued support.
