Maryann Allender, 68, of New Tripoli, died Feb. 17, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Born in New Tripoli, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Wert) Burkhart.

She was last employed as a personal care giver for Ryan.

Prior to that, she was employed at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Township, and the former Hess’s Department Store, Allentown.

She was a 1966 graduate of Northwestern High School.

Her survivors include a son Jason M. Allender; brother Harold E. Burkhart, with whom she resided, and a sister, Catherine, wife of Steven Heckman, all of New Tripoli; two nieces; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Feb. 25, in St. Peter’s Lynnville, UCC, 5129 Shochary Road, New Tripoli, with a visitation period beginning 10 a.m.

The Rev. Rebekah A. Thomas will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066, to help defray her final expenses.
