A 32-year-old man was killed when he was thrown off the Kawasaki KZ1100 motorcycle he was operating shortly after 4 p.m. Feb. 19 in the area of 6338 Hunsicker Road, Heidelberg Township.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said John D. Watt of 6323 Hunsicker Road, Heidelberg Township, was pronounced dead 4:58 p.m. the same day by Lehigh County Deputy Coroner Jason T. Smith.
Grim said the cause of Watt’s death is attributed to head injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Grim ruled the manner of Watt’s death an accident.
According to State Police Troop M Bethlehem, Watt was traveling west on Hunsicker Road, when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from it.
Police say after Watt was thrown from his bike, he hit a tree on the right side of the road.
The bike also continued onto the right shoulder and struck the tree, coming to a final rest partially in the east bound lane.
The collision ruptured the fuel tank of the motorcycle and caused a brush fire at the Hunsicker property, police say.
Police say Watt was not wearing a helmet, gloves or other riding gear.
The Goodwill Fire Department, Germansville, and Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
