Kids set for D-11 tourney

Northampton may have missed out on the PIAA state team tournament, but the K-Kids cemented road to Hershey’s individual tournament begins this weekend when the District 11 3A wrestling tournament gets underway at Liberty’s Memorial Gymnasium.

The Kids have faired well in individual tournaments this season, placing 12th at the Beast of the East, first at the Bethlehem Holiday Classic and third at Escape the Rock.

With returning state champion Julian Chlebove (120), KJ Fenstermacher (132) and Dan Moran (138) heading into this weekend as heavy favorites to win district titles, Northampton is in strong position to come away with a top-three team finish at districts with the likes of Nazareth and Bethlehem Catholic.

Chlebove won districts at 113 pounds last season, while Fenstermacher, a Liberty transfer, and Moran both competed in the 120-pound title last year, as Fenstermacher came out to win by a 5-2 decision.

Logan Ninos (113), Devon Britton (145), Michael Kistler (152) and Cade Moisey (170) will also be in contention to medal for the Kids and advance to regionals.

Here is the projected lineup for the Kids this weekend.

106 - Sam Hanley

113 - Logan Ninos

120 - Julian Chlebove

126 - Erik Schreck

132 - KJ Fenstermacher

138 - Dan Moran

152 - Michael Kistler

160 - Chance Wandler

170 - Cade Moisey

285 - Alex Darabaris
