Allan Edward Schneck

Allan Edward Schneck, 79, formerly of South Whitehall Township, died Feb. 14, 2017, at Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Albert and Arlene (Stoudt) Schneck, and husband of the late Jean A. (Gundrum) Schneck.

He was deeply tied to the Lehigh Valley, graduating from Parkland High School before earning an engineering degree from Lehigh University in 1959.

He subsequently worked as an engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Vermont Department of Transportation, helping design many of the highway systems still in use today.

He was a member of Seibert Evangelical Congregational Church, Allentown.

Taking up skiing and becoming avidly devoted to the sport, he loved the outdoors, traveling, camping, and fishing, spending extended periods of his retirement in Vermont, Iowa and Pennsylvania.

He was also a devoted supporter of Lehigh University athletics who would often send to loved ones news clippings of Lehigh stars’ exploits.

His survivors include a son Matthew A. and his wife, Lisa, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son Stephen A. of Allentown; and grandchildren Anthony, Natalie and Jackie.

He was predeceased by a son Jeffrey A. and a brother David J.
