Gretchen A. Yocum, 71, of Lower Macungie Township, died Feb. 13, 2017, at home. She was the wife of Stephen Yocum. They were married 51 years. Born in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late Newt and Dorothy (Miller) Griffiths.

After spending three decades dedicated to raising and caring for her family, she returned to school and began a new chapter in her life as a nurse. She spent many years as a compassionate caregiver for others and ultimately served as the director of wellness at Country Meadows Retirement Community of Allentown before retiring in 2012.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Stephen Jr. and his wife Donna, of Urbana, Md. and Jared and his wife Kelly, of Moon Township; daughters, Amy and her husband Joey Ocasio, of Macungie, and Sarah and her husband Matt Jeffers, of Perkiomenville; two brothers, Ralph Griffiths and Guy Griffiths; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Poe.
