Northampton: Escape room event planned

Northampton Area Public Library will hold a session called Teen Escape Room 1 p.m. Feb. 18. An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles to escape. Registration is required.

Also new this month is Play K, which involves play and learning designed for children preparing for kindergarten. Each week will feature a topic providing an interactive learning experience. The program begins Feb. 21; drop in between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. This program is made possible through a grant from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries as part of its Cruise into Kindergarten initiative.

The library’s winter book sale will be held Feb. 22, 23 and 25.

Alliance Fire Company, 717 Washington Ave., will hold a pork and sauerkraut dinner 4-7 p.m. Feb. 18.

Queenship of Mary Church will hold a designer purse bingo Feb. 19 in the gymnasium of Good Shepherd Catholic School, 1300 Newport Ave. Doors open 12:30 p.m.; games begin 1:30 p.m.

Food, drinks, baked goods and raffle tickets will be available for purchase.

Advance tickets are available. Tickets also will be sold at the door the day of the event.

The second annual Support the Veterans & Their Furry Friends Benefit will be held 6-8 p.m. March 4 at Hampton Lanes, 326 Main St.

Proceeds benefit Dog TAGS of the Lehigh Valley.

The cost of a ticket includes two hours of unlimited bowling, shoe rental and drink ticket for Wyerbacher Draft.

There also will be a bake sale, 50/50 raffle and silent auction.

Tommy Zito will perform 7-10 p.m. April 8 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714, Main Street and Laubach Avenue.

The VFW hosts a polka and button box event 7:30-10:30 p.m. every Friday at the Post home.

Also, VFW canteen is now accepting new members for 2017. Membership is open to the public.
