Joseph Wire Jr., 89, a resident of Fellowship Community, died Feb. 10, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Doris (Deppe) Wire for 67 years.
Born in York, he was a son of the late Joseph and Coletta (Folkenroth) Wire.
He was a 1946 graduate of Dallastown High School. He attended Lehigh County Community College.
He was with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Texas and Florida during World War II.
He worked for Fellowship Community, ALPO and Fuller Company.
He was a member of Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, where he was an elder for 35 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kathy and her husband Roy Wallace of Ohio and Pam and her husband Don Kuntzman of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Josh, Karen, Matt, Stacey and Liz Kuntzman; three great-grandchildren, Adeline, Zeke, Andrew and another in August; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Sowers; and a brother, Mahlon Wire.
There will be a viewing 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by services 11 a.m., both Feb. 16 at the church, 3300 Seventh St., Whitehall, 18052. There also will be a celebration of life 11 a.m. March 4 in the Zentz Center of Fellowship Community, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, 18052.
Contributions may be made to the church or to the Fellowship Community residents fund.
