Irene Stratz

Irene (Dubick) Stratz, 86, formerly of Emmaus, died peacefully at her residence at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, Feb. 10, 2017. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Stratz, Jr. They were married 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Stefan Dubick, of Slovakia, who immigrated to the United States in the 1920’s, and the late Susan (Staruch) Dubick. She was raised in the coal mining community of Tresckow. She was a longtime resident of Emmaus, residing there for over 52 years.

She was an active member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Emmaus.

She was well-known for maintaining an impeccable home. She enjoyed time with her family, playing bingo and bowling. Despite only having achieved an eighth grade education, she was considerably well taught, very witty and an excellent cook.

She is survived by a daughter, Irene C., R.N., and her partner Donna Reinhard; six sons, Joseph F. and his wife Riga, Stephen J. and his wife Lynn, Michael D. and his wife Tracy, Anthony T., Andrew J. and his wife Kellie, Matthew G. Sr., and his wife Rubia; nine grandchildren, Angela Ashmore, Anthony Wanamaker, Timothy, Daniel Francis, M.D.; Sarah M., Matthew G. Jr. Joseph, Benjamin and Adam; five great-grandchildren; sister Martha Bianco; brother-in-law Anthony Bianco; sister-in-law’s Betty Dubick and Josephine Dubick. She was predeceased by infant son, Paul George; brothers, Michael, Nicholas, John, Paul and George Dubick; sisters, Ava Marie Dubick and Mary DiSabella.

Friends and visitors may call 9 to 10:15 a.m. Feb. 15 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 15 in St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Wood St., Emmaus.
