Helen D. (Engleman) Balascak, 86, of Emmaus, died Feb. 3, 2017, at Arden Courts Memory Care Facility, Wescosville. She was the wife of Joseph Balascak, formerly of Vera Cruz. They were married 64 years. She was the daughter of the late Miles and Alice Engleman.
She grew up on Broad Street in Emmaus and graduated from Emmaus High School in 1947.
She worked for Rodale Manufacturing and the Emmaus High School cafeteria, until retiring in 1993.
She was a great cook and an outstanding baker. Her nut rolls, kiffles and chocolate cakes will be missed at the family gatherings.
She is survived by her husband; children, Ann Ruhf and Larry and his wife Vickie; grandchildren, Joshua and Rachael, of Philadelphia, Jessica and Fred Gerloff, of Eagleville and Lisa and Jeff Carl, of Baltimore; great-granddaughters, Audrey, Nora Gerloff and Rowan and Ada Carl; brothers, Elbert, Dalton and Richard; sister, Wanda Yeakel.
Services are private. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
