Edward Stephen Panek, 83, of Lower Macungie Township, died Jan. 17, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Crede) Panek. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary October 2016. Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was the son of the late Stephen and Christine (Madsen) Panek.

He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1951 and from Rider University in 1955 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and played on the baseball team. At Rider he was a member and treasurer of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity.

He was a certified public accountant 54 years and worked as a consultant, having previously worked for Viking Press, Macmillan Publishers and Air Reduction.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Allentown, where he was a trustee. A former member of First Baptist Church, Rahway, he served in many positions.

He served on the finance committee at Four Seasons at Farmington.

He was a member and former treasurer of Lafayette Lodge #27 F.&A.M. in Rahway, N.J.

He enjoyed traveling and loved the Patriots and IronPigs.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Rev. Doctor Susan P. and her husband Emanuel Polizzi, of Ormond Beach, Fla. and their children, Angela and her husband Dustin Christophersen, Michael Polizzi and Amy Hoag; son, Edward S. Jr. and his wife Melanie, of London, England and their children, Edward S. III and Sarah; daughter, Nancy P. and her husband Christian Bischoff, of Emmaus and their children, Daisy Bischoff, Penny Bischoff; great-grandchildren, Caden, Ryze, Teagan.
