Frank P. Innis Jr.
Frank P. Innis Jr., 88, died peacefully Jan. 31, 2017, in Allentown.
Born in DuBois, he was a son of the late Frank P. and Lillian Innis Sr.
He was married to the late Dr. Patricia A. Strausser (Lockner) Innis, M.D., formerly of Reading, who died in 2015.
A 1946 graduate of Reading High School, he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Arkansas, and received his Master’s degree from Penn State University main campus.
He was an advertising specialist for Beaumont, Heller and Sperling of Reading, and became director of the Audiovisual Media Department at Berks County Intermediate Unit, a position he held more than 30 years until his retirement.
He proudly served in Japan with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, attaining the rank of corporal, and was the personal secretary and stenographer of the general in command.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world together.
The epitome of a gentleman, he was a great conversationalist, and loved to attend the opera.
While at home, they enjoyed feeding the birds and the wildlife that came to visit, and caring for their many dogs and cats.
His survivors include a daughter Maria Therese Emert and husband, Stephen; son Patrick M. Lockner; six grandchildren including Matthew Emert and his wife, Amy Schwab-Emert, and Patricia Emert Rist and her husband, Daniel W. Rist,; niece Allison Huyett and nephew William Huyett.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Margaret A. E. Lockner (Stone Carson) Innis in 2013 and sister Annjeannette Whitby.
Contributions: may be made in honor of his love for all God’s creatures to The Lehigh County Humane Society, 640 Dixon St., Allentown PA 18103 for the benefit of homeless animals.
