Alexander Joseph Karol Jr. 65, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Salisbury Township, died Jan. 30, 2017, in his home. He was the son of the late Alexander Joseph Karol Sr. and Julia (Meckes) Karol.
A 1973 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, he was a longtime teacher, school board member and football coach at Salisbury High School, having served as head coach during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He also served on the coaching staff at Notre Dame High School and Saucon Valley High School prior to moving to Nevada in 2006.
His lifelong passion for sports and education touched the lives of hundreds of students over the years, while his unique storytelling abilities and lovable, larger-than-life personality made him a friend to all.
He loved animals and served as an advocate for animal adoption. He became a Facebook favorite when he began chronicling his witty and unique observations of everyday life in a series of daily posts referred to as “Alex’s Rant of the Day.”
He is survived by his mother; brother Robert and his wife Philomena Haskins; son, Alex III and his wife Tammy, son Eric and fiancee Rachel Bowen; granddaughters, Ashley and Samantha, nephew Robby Forbes; niece Cindy Hosseini as well as longtime companion, Marie Neith.
A memorial service in Pennsylvania in early April will be announced. Arrangements were made by the La Paloma Funeral Services, Las Vegas, Nev.
