The Salisbury softball team is holding a one-day clothing drive 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Residents can drop off items in a box or bag at the main entrance of the middle school on that day only. Donations must be there by 2:30 p.m. because everything will be picked up promptly 3 p.m. For a complete list of items which can be donated, visit any of the school websites.
Western Salisbury Elementary invites the parents and guardians of the third graders to have lunch with their student Feb. 7. Third grade lunch begins promptly 12:05 p.m.
Salisbury Middle School has begun the month-long fundraiser “Pennies for Patients.” All money collected will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Eastern Pennsylvania chapter.
The school has set a goal of $1,000. If that goal is reached, teachers will either shave their heads or color their hair. Goals have been set for raising $500 and $750 as well involving the principal and assistant principal. “Penny wars” will be held every Friday where students can bring in loose change. The top classroom will earn a pizza party. Residents and family members of students will also be able to donate online. For more information, contact SMS at 610-791-0830.
Salisbury High School will hold a parent information night concerning scheduling classes for next year 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7. Believe it or not, students will select their classes for next year in a few weeks.
The 2017 Lehigh County Band Concert will be held at SHS 2 p.m. Feb. 4. The concert will feature band musicians from Allentown Central Catholic, William Allen, Catasauqua, Dieruff, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Parkland, Salisbury, Southern Lehigh, and Whitehall high schools. The concert will include a wide range of musical styles, with songs directed by each school’s director. The National Anthem will be directed by Salisbury’s Superintendent, Dr. Randy Ziegenfus.
The festival has a long history in the Lehigh Valley; this is its 59th year of existence.

An operations committee meeting will be held 7 p.m. Feb. 6 in the administration building and a school board meeting 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8, also in the administration building.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church wil hold a sweetheart community breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 11. The menu will include Valentine’s Day themed items. A donation is suggested. All proceeds will benefit the Warming Station for the homeless in Allentown.
