Student reps update NWL board

Paige Stitzel and Elizabeth Fornauf gave the student representative report to the Northwestern Lehigh School Board at the January board meeting.

They began by wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

They provided the board with a winter sports update saying girls basketball was 4-3 in the Colonial League with 7-4 overall. Boys’ basketball was 2-5 in Colonial League and 3-8 overall.

The wrestling scorecard was 3-0 in Colonial League and 4-2 overall.

High school students just finished taking the winter Keystone exams. A total of 135 students took the literature and biology exams, and 100 students took the algebra exam during this round.

The first day of spring semester classes was Jan. 24.

Lehigh Career and Technical School Students of the Month for December 2016 included: Emerging Health Professional, Cassidy Grather; Diesel Medium and Heavy Truck Technology, Gavin Madonna; Advertising Design/Commercial Art, Taylor Dengler; Precision Machine Tool Technology, Zachary Kistler; and Criminal Justice, Slade Feinour.

The drama club’s spring musical is “Legally Blonde,” starring Emily Witt as Elle Woods.

Rehearsals started at the beginning of the new year. There is practice most days which includes two music days, two acting days and one dancing day.

All the student actors are working very hard for the March presentation.
