Russell L. Baus, 86, of Allentown, died Jan. 15, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Beatrice E. (Gardner) Baus.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Daniel S. and Ada N. (Derr) Baus.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a machinist last employed by L. Coster Machine Shop, Wind Gap, for 10 years, retiring in 2002. Prior to that he worked in the same capacity for the former Swanger Bros./APG Machine, Whitehall, for 35 years.
He was a former homing pigeon racer and past president of the Lehigh Valley Homing Pigeon Association of Fogelsville and Northampton. He was a longtime member of United States Snowmobiling Association, traveling and racing throughout the United States.
He is survived by a son, Dennis R. and his wife Linda Baus of Whitehall; a sister N. Jean Snyder of Allentown; two stepgrandchildren, Jennifer and Alecia; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard D. Baus; and a sister, Myrtle A. Knisley.
