James D. Burnhauser

James D. Burnhauser, 86, of Bake Oven Road, Germansville, Heidelberg Township, died peacefully Jan. 19, 2017, in his home.

He and his wife Romaine “Betsy” L. (Bollinger) Burnhauser were married Oct. 31, 1953.

Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Wade M. Burnhauser and Maude (Bartholomew) Burnhauser-Bamberger.

A foreman/electrician for Orlando Diefenderfer Electric, Allentown, for 40 years, he retired in 1991.

He was a member of Local 375, Electricians Union, Allentown.

He was a member of the United Church of God, Bethlehem Congregation, Hellertown.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korea Era, and achieved rank of seaman apprentice.

A member of the Palmerton Area Historical Society where he formerly served on the board, he volunteered restoring and being the caretaker of “The Little White Church” in Palmerton.

He enjoyed skiing, bowling, playing with children and spending time with family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Rebecca E., wife of James Beidelman, of New Tripoli; son Jeremiah G. and wife, Linda M., of Germansville; grandchildren, Janell, Elizabeth, Rachel, Jeremiah M., Elias, Emily and Amanda; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Janet, wife of Allen Mertz, of Danielsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Jane; and brothers Wade, Eugene, Frederick and Harry.
