Hanover council appoints officers
Every year on the first Monday after the New Year’s Day celebration, the Hanover Township Council meets in a special session to elect officers and reaffirm contracts.
“We are a home rule charter township,” said council Chairman Bruce Paulus at the reorganization meeting. “This special meeting allows us to evaluate how we are doing at the start of the year.”
At the Jan. 9 meeting, the council voted to re-elect Bruce Paulus as chairman and Bob Heimbecker as vice chairman. Both of the officers served full terms during 2016.
For Paulus, this represents more than two decades of service to the township.
“I am honored to continue to serve the township,” he said.
Heimbecker is completing his first term on council.
In addition to the officers, the council will continue its working relationship with Solicitor Jackson Eaton and Keystone Consulting Engineers and its building code official.
Council reappointed Patricia Paulus to the planning commission and Barry Schultz to the zoning hearing board.
Council members voted to appoint to the recreation commission Maureen Whitehead, Mark Thomas and Linda Graver.
Eileen Koller will serve on the personnel board.
Steve Elton, Benjamin Walbert and Christifer Portner will serve on the board of appeals.
Berkheimer Associates will continue as the tax collector.
Township Manager Sandra Pudliner will continue to represent the township in tax matters along with staff assistant Vicky Roth.
The township also adopted an emergency operations plan.
