Gloria C. Shipe

Gloria C. Shipe, 90, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Catasauqua, died Jan. 8, 2017, at West Side Regional Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She was the wife of the late William A. Shipe.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Iva R. (Wolfe) Heimbach.

She was a notary public from 1975 to 1979.

She was a telephone operator for Medical Dental, later known as Health Page, Allentown, for 21 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a volunteer with AWVS and sold war bonds during World War II. She was a member of Lehigh Valley All Girls Orchestra and Lehigh Valley Masquerades String Band.

She is survived by four sons, Charles C. and his wife Karen Kerstetter of Lansdale, Dennis J. and his wife Bonnie Kerstetter of Catasauqua, William A. and his wife Marie Shipe of Hellertown and Glenn W. Shipe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Sandra L. and her husband Dwight Steidel of Nazareth and Nancy A. Shipe of Emmaus; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy M. Cunningham and Virginia M. Arnold.

There will be a time to be with family and friends 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service 11 a.m., both Feb. 4 at the mausoleum at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
