William H. Snyder Sr., 84, of Schnecksville, died Jan. 15, 2017, in ManorCare Health Services, Bethlehem.

Born July 21, 1932, in Fountain Hill, he was the son of the late Ethelbert and Flora (Gass) Snyder.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.

He was a truck driver for Flores Air Conditioning Inc., Catasauqua, before retiring.

Prior to that, he was employed at Pipeline Petroleum and the former Trexler Oil Co.

A founding member of the former Northwestern Ambulance Corps, New Tripoli, he was a former volunteer firefighter at Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, Germansville.

He was an avid bowler and golfer.

His survivors include companion, Perma V. (Ketchledge) Boyer, with whom he resided; children Debra A. Kocher and her husband, Luther of Tennessee, Susan G. Beres and her husband, Robert of Bethlehem, Ronald A. Snyder and his wife, Virginia of Macungie, Connie A. Snyder and her husband, Dexter Burton of Slatington, Lisa J. Snyder of New Tripoli; brother Richard Snyder and his wife, Nancy of Bethlehem; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son William H. Snyder Jr.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. William J. Ritzenthaler officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
