John E. Meagher, 79, of Slatington, died peacefully Dec. 28, 2016, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.
He enjoyed hunting, trap and archery shooting.
He was the Pennsylvania state archery champ three times and the mid-Atlantic champion in 1966.
He spent his career as a professional truck driver for Lehigh Valley Dairy, the former Schaefer and Stroh’s Breweries and Maier’s Bakery.
He and his wife, Carole (Betzler) Meagher would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on Jan. 2.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Susan Catteau (Scott); sons-in-law Scott Kern and Ted Ernst; granddaughters Meaghen Kern, Heather and Hannah Catteau; grandson Matthew Kern; and sister Patti Manescu.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Meagher-Ernst (Ted).
