Zephyrs sweep SV, split with NHS

The Whitehall swimming team swept Saucon Valley in a nonleague meet from last week. The girls won 108-60 while the boys won 95-75.

Nick Martinovic helped to lead the way winning two individual firsts in the boys meet. Meanwhile for the girls, the Zephs saw seven different girls takes first.

Julia Thomas, Megan Herbine, Caroline Martin, Autumn Kidulic, Cassidy Larkin, Katie Lutterschmidt and Rasha Abdouche all took first for the girls.

Thomas won the 200 free in 2:11, Herbine the 200 medley in 2:36.37, Martin the 50 free in 30.42, Kidulic the 100 fly in 1:13.67, Larkin the 500 free in 7:02.96, Lutterschmidt the 100 back in 1:14.4 and Abdouche the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.36.

The girls also saw two relay teams take first. Kallie Lyle, Kidulic, Rachael Alulis and Patricia Bartosh won the 200 medley in 2:13.07 while Sabrina Kidulic, Kayla Yandrasitz, Thomas and Alulis won the 400 free with a time of 4:40.82.

For the boys, Martinovic won the 200 free in 2:00.47 as well as the 100 fly in 58.81.

Other winners for the boys were Nate Dolan, Sebastian Solarte-Vigil, Ziyad Khafagy, Ahmed Hamada and Daniel Jablonski. Dolan won the 200 medley in 2:09.06, Solarte the 50 free in 24.57, Khafagy the 100 free in 53.7, Hamada the 500 free in 5:34.66 and Jablonski the 100 back in 59.67.

All three relay teams took first. The 200 medley team got a winning time of 1:49.28 and was made up of Jablonski, Jordan Rivera, Solarte-Vigil and Jack Yadush.

The 200 free team was made up of Martinovic, Yadush, Khafagy and Dolan and won with a time of 1:45.06 while the 400 free team of Jablonski, Solarte, Rivera and Khafagy had a winning time of 3:37.93.

The team also split a meet with Northampton last week.

The girls won 92-78 while the boys lost 90-80.

In the boys meet, despite the loss, the 400 free relay team set a new school record with a time of 3:29.84. The team was made up of Jablonski, Solarte-Vigil, Khafagy and Rivera.

The 200 medley relay team also took first and was made up of Yadush, Rivera, Solarte and Khafagy. Their time was 1:51.03.

In the individual events, Jablonski took two firsts, winning the 200 free in 1:49.79 and the 500 free in 5:01.88, Solarte, Khafagy and Rivera also won individual events. Solarte-Vigil captured the 50 free in 24.56, Khafagy the 100 free in 54.61 and Rivera the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.37.

In the girls meet, Martha Giletto and Lyle each won two events to help lead the way.

Giletto won the 50 free in 26.46 and the 100 fly in 1:07.67 while Lyle won the 100 free in 1:01.12 and the 100 back in 1:08.01.

Michaela Hendricks also won, taking the 200 free in 2:16.94.

Whitehall’s only relay win came in the 400 free while Giletto, Hendricks, Bartosh and Lyle won with a time of 4:12.35.
