Coplay: Where’s the snow?
Children are anxiously waiting a measurable snowfall to slide down on one of the three separate sleighing areas on the west side of the borough parkway, North Second Street.
Years back, the sleigh riding was on Stone Alley, between Maple and Cherry streets, and Lehigh Street, between South Second and Front streets.

Coplay Public Library Board of Directors meet 7 p.m. this evening, Jan. 12, in council chambers at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St. The public is invited to attend.

Coplay’s 150th anniversary committee will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 19 in council chambers at borough hall. The borough will celebrate the anniversary in 2019, beginning with a dinner and dance in April, other events following and culminating with Community Days in August.

Mark Jan. 28 on your calendar, for St. John’s Lutheran Church will hold a chicken potpie dinner at its social hall on South Third Street. Along with the homemade chicken potpie, there also will be pepper cabbage, applesauce, rolls and butter, beverages and desserts.

Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association’s food bank is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the basement of borough hall. Available to borough residents, a proof of residency is required to receive the food donation.
The food bank accepts monetary or food donations to continue its work, which has been a staple in the borough for more than three decades.

With NFL football playoffs underway and the Super Bowl in the wings, Coplay Lions Club announced it will host its 30th annual Super Bowl breakfast buffet 8 a.m.-noon Feb. 5 at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St. Attendees are invited to wear their favorite team’s jersey.
There is a charge for the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for adults and children 5-12. Those 5 and under eat for free.
