William S. Barton, 91, of Emmaus, died Dec. 22, 2016, in Cedarbrook. He is survived by the love of his life for the past 17 years, Millie (Lorish) Kohler and was the husband of the late Irene (Hendrickson) Barton, who died Sept. 21, 1998. Born in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Harold Barton and Joseph and Mildred (Seibert) Engelhardt.
He was a 1943 graduate of New Trier High School, Winnetka, Ill., a 1950 graduate of Hobart College, Geneva, N.Y., and a 1981 graduate of Temple University.
He was a production control supervisor for Ronson Corp. of PA and later was a teacher at Temple University and various schools in Monroe County before retiring.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Torpedo Squadron 89, flying off the aircraft carrier USS Antietam. He saw action in both the Pacific and China, serving as a ball turret gunner.
He was a life member of the NRA, former member of the Eagle Birding Club, Lehigh Valley Audubon Society and was a former Little League manager.
He is survived by Millie Kohler; son, J. Brad and his companion, Heidi; daughter, Susan L. Difilippantonio; daughter-in-law, Jill; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as Millie’s children; grandchildren and brother. He was predeceased by a son, W. Scott.
