State Police Troop L Hamburg say Gerald G. Banner, 68, of Bloomfield, N.J. was driving a 2014 Nissan Rogue 6:43 a.m. Dec. 28, 2016, on I-78, Greenwich Township, when it struck an embankment and rolled over.

Police say Banner was eastbound on I-78 when he experienced medical problems and lost control of the vehicle.

Initial impact occurred when the SUV swerved off the southern edge of the roadway striking the embankment.

The SUV then rolled multiple times before coming to a final rest.

According to police, Banner, who was wearing his seat belt, sustained a suspected minor injury.

He was transported by Hamburg EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

State Police Troop L Hamburg say Danny L. Waters, Jr., 24, of Inwood, W.Va., was driving a 2011 Kia Soul around 8:31 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2016, on I-78, Greenwich Township, when it struck a tractor-trailer combo and center concrete median.

Police say Waters was eastbound on I-78 in the left lane, when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway, striking the left rear tires on the tractor-trailer combo traveling in the right lane.

Waters’ vehicle then spun and struck the center concrete median with its rear portion but he was able to pull the vehicle to the south berm, just past Exit 35, Lenhartsville, police say.

Police say the tractor-trailer continued east on I-78 without stopping.

According to police, Waters’ passengers Melissa Viands, 49, of Charlestown, W.Va., and Dana A. Miller, 23, Ranson, W.Va., sustained suspected minor injuries.

Both were transported by Hamburg Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Waters and passengers Desire Miller, 24, of Inwood, W. Va., and a 12-year-old male from Martinsburg, W.Va., were not injured.

Waters and all the passengers except Dana A. Miller were wearing seat belts, police say.

Mohammed Mahmoud of the 7000 block of Flint Hill Road, Lynn Township, reported to State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, the registration plate from his vehicle was removed from his vehicle sometime between Nov. 1, 2016, and Jan. 1, 2017.

Anyone with information on this theft is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say attempts were made between midnight and 4 a.m. Dec. 31, 2016, to siphon gas from vehicles belonging to a 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman along Old 22, Weisenberg Township.

Police say the attempted theft failed.
