Harold A. Schaeffer, 92, of Allentown, died Dec. 23, 2016, in Memory Care, Easton.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Grace E. (Shearer) Schaeffer.

A World War II Army veteran, he earned the rank of private first class.

He was a medic in the Mediterranean Theater, a POW in Germany and was a Purple Heart recipient.

His survivors include a nephew Wayne W. and wife, Gale M., of Orefield.

He was predeceased by brothers Luther and wife, Dorothy, Arland R. Sr. and wife, Ruth M., and nephew, Arland Jr.
