Dolores M. “Dolly” Appel, 88, of Allentown, died Jan. 1, 2017, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall.

She was the wife of the late Lester G. Appel.

Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary F. (Zukowski) Pleva.

A 1950 graduate of Allentown School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse at Allentown Hospital for 38 years before retiring in 1994 and was a life member of its alumnae association.

She was also a member of Lehigh Valley Network Retirees Association and St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church.

Her survivors include daughters Debra M. Greco and husband, Anthony, Linda Kennedy and husband, Bill; son John E.; grandchildren Dana Storm, Daniel Kennedy, Devin Greco, Stephen Kennedy; great-grandsons, Parker and Bennett Storm, Kevin Kennedy; and sister-in-law Sadie Mohrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30 p.m. in the church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown.

Call 11:30 a.m. until the Mass. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.

In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
