LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Whitehall library: 2017 starts with reading program

Welcome to 2017! We are getting ready for our adult winter reading program that will begin Jan. 16 and run until March 25. The theme this year will be “Reading in Paradise.” Stop by the front desk to register starting Jan. 16.

This year’s adult winter reading program will be a little different. There will be extra points for completing the game board and for reading books that have keywords dealing with the theme “Reading in Paradise.”

The wrap-up party will be 1 p.m. and/or 6 p.m. March 27.

See the handout at the desk for more information. Think warm tropical islands this winter in Pennsylvania!

The library is proud to announce we have our new closed-circuit television (CCTV) ready to go! It’s the Optelec Clear-View with speech for our visually impaired patrons. This was purchased with funds donated and raised by Whitehall Lions Club and other community sponsors. Please stop in and see the unique visual machine.

The Lions Club raised money by having a duck derby in September 2016. The library has this unit open to the public and free to use by folks with visual problems.

The library board, staff and patrons would like to thank Whitehall Lions Club and the other community supporters for helping in the purchase of the CCTV.

Did you know even on snow days you can access our databases from your home computer? Just have an updated, active Whitehall library card and a PIN, and you can use any of the databases on the right side of our site.

Are you looking for a way to help your library? Here is a wish list of items: gift cards to any store, art supplies, colored printer paper and birdseed.
