Pennsylvania State Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Race Street, in the area of Cascade Drive, Hanover Township, Lehigh County, between Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, 2016.
In a report to The Press, state police said the checkpoint resulted in 298 motorist contacts, seven DUI arrests, 12 summary traffic citations and one warning.
The goal of a sobriety checkpoint, the department said, is to reduce the number of alcohol- and drug-related fatal and serious crashes and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on the state’s highways.
