Joan M. Hafner, 80, of Egypt, died Dec. 24, 2016, in the hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Homer B. Sr. and Marie (Vogel) Wentz.

She was an Allentown High School graduate.

She worked briefly at Air Products and later at Western Electric-Lucent, from which she retired after 40 years.

She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and the Red Hat Society.

She volunteered for many charities.

She is survived by a son, Mark Balas; and a brother, Homer B. Wentz Jr.
