N.A.R.C. has last meeting of 2016

Twenty-two members attended the Neighbors Are Reporting Crime meeting in November at the Greenawalds Fire Company, South Whitehall.

South Whitehall Township Police Officers Steve Brown and Jason Grozier conducted the meeting.

Brown thanked all the veterans at the meeting for their service to this country.

Brown and Grozier also provided some useful holiday shopping safety tips:

Do not leave purchased items visible in the car. Put them in the trunk;

·Shopping in the evening may be less crowded but there are also additional parking risks;

·Make sure purses and wallets are secure on your person and you are aware of their location at all times;

· Credit cards offer convenience and security, however, keep track of all cards and keep receipts to compare them to monthly statements;

·Have keys in hand before walking to your vehicle so you don’t have to search for them; and

·Report suspicious people or activity to law enforcement immediately.

A discussion continued and ended with a reminder to the group the law states dogs must be kept under the owner’s control.

N.A.R.C. members were reminded to keep fire hydrants free from snow, and President John Oplinger, reminded members there are no meetings when school is closed on the day a meeting is scheduled.

The Crime Watch group’s next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 17, 2017.
