Driver injured in 1-vehicle South Whitehall Twp crash

A 54-year-old Allentown man was injured when he was ejected from his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck after it struck a cement median at 8:32 p.m. Dec. 14 on the Route 309 northbound ramp to Route 22, South Whitehall Township.

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a trooper attempted to stop the pickup truck driven by Bradley Zipprodt for an alleged traffic violation on I-78 westbound in the area of mile marker 63.

Police allege Zipprodt failed to stop for the emergency lights and sirens and continued to travel west on I-78.

He then traveled north on Route 309 while being followed by the trooper.

Police say Zipprodt then attempted to pass another vehicle while negotiating a curve as he exited Route 309 onto the Route 22 eastbound ramp and lost control of his truck which struck the cement median.

The impact caused the truck to rollover ejecting Zipprodt, who police say was not wearing a seat belt.

The truck, which sustained disabling damage, came to a rest east of the ramp against the guide rail.

Zipprodt was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

South Whitehall Township police and firefighters, along with the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office assisted at the scene.
