Donald P. Bachman Sr.
Donald P. Bachman Sr. 87, of Fellowship Community, Whitehall, formerly of Schnecksville, died Dec. 24, 2016, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown.
He and his wife Janet L. (Ziegler) Bachman were married 63 years.
Born April 14, 1929, in Schnecksville, he was the son of the late George F. and Perma A. (Schneck) Bachman.
He was a self-employed farmer in the Schnecksville area from 1949-05.
In 1953, he participated in the International Farm Youth Exchange in Costa Rica.
He also was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the Lehigh County Farm Bureau, where he held various offices, and was a former 4-H Club leader.
Active in the life of his church and community, he was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, serving two terms on the consistory and many years singing with the choir.
He also achieved 17 years perfect attendance at Union Sunday School.
He was a member of the Civil Defense Program, I.O.O.F. Lodge 192, Schnecksville, and the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.
He was a former member of the Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville, and the Builders Advisory Council of LCTI, Schnecksville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Donald P. Jr. and (Kathy) of Stockertown, David P.A. and (Sandi) of Coplay, Douglas F. of Klecknersville, Jayne L. Campbell and (Timothy) of Allentown, Daniel R. and fiancé, Gwenevere of Allentown; siblings Jean P. Husack of Durham, N.C., Alton A. Bachman and (Shirley) of Allentown, Althea A. Grim and (Leon) of Whitehall; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Willard G.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Dec. 30 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. Allan Kramer-Moyer officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
