Board accepts Berrigan’s resignation

The Catasauqua Area School Board unanimously accepted the resignation of school board member Dawn Berrigan, effective immediately, at its Dec. 6 meeting.

Berrigan resigned from the board because she moving to Virginia with her husband.

The school board has 30 days to appoint a new board member to fill the vacancy, to serve until Dec. 4, 2017.

Anyone who is interested in being considered as a candidate for the board seat should submit a letter of interest and resume to the school district office at 201 N. 14th St. or via email them to Superintendent Robert Spengler at spenglerr@cattysd.org.

The deadline for submission is Jan. 6, 2017.

The board conducted a brief reorganization meeting before holding a regular meeting.

During the reorganization meeting, board member Penny Hahn was re-elected to serve as board president and Carol Cunningham was re-elected to serve as vice president, both one-year terms.
